Founder & CEO · BizTek Connection
Roger Best
Roger Best is an entrepreneur, author, business coach, and founder and CEO of BizTek Connection, Inc., an Arkansas-based managed IT services and cybersecurity company serving small and midsized organizations.
The beginning
His business education began earlier than most.
A lasting way of thinking.
At eight years old, Roger discovered a large supply of worms beneath a damp pile of debris. He took them to a local bait shop and earned $5. When the owner asked if he could bring more, Roger said yes, then went home to figure out how to make the process repeatable.
It was a simple childhood business, but the lesson stuck: identify a need, solve the problem, build a repeatable process, and keep improving it.
That approach continues to shape how Roger thinks about business, technology, and BizTek Connection.
01 | Experience
More Than Four Decades In Business and Technology
Roger has spent more than four decades building businesses and working with technology.
During his career, he has started, acquired, operated, grown, sold, and occasionally closed businesses across several industries. He has hired and managed employees, made payroll, controlled costs, protected cash flow, served demanding customers, assumed substantial financial obligations, and guided companies through growth and difficult periods.
In other words, he understands the pressures facing the business owners BizTek serves because he has faced many of them himself.
Technology became a common thread throughout that career. Roger discovered that he had an aptitude for making computers do what he wanted, but his interest extended beyond the machines themselves. He became fascinated by what technology could help a business accomplish.
He cares about technology that makes a company more productive, secure, resilient, and easier to manage. That philosophy helped shape BizTek Connection.
02 | BizTek Connection
Building BizTek Around the Business
Roger founded BizTek Connection to help organizations use technology as a practical business tool.
Today, BizTek provides managed IT, cybersecurity, cloud and Microsoft 365 services, backup, business continuity and disaster recovery, communications, compliance support, and technology planning for small and midsized organizations.
Roger believes a technology provider must understand more than computers, servers, and software. The provider should understand what the client is trying to accomplish, what could interrupt the business, which risks require attention, and where technology can remove friction.
That perspective changes the questions BizTek asks.
01What problem does the business need to solve?
What risk needs to be reduced?
03How much downtime can the company tolerate?
04Is critical information protected and recoverable?
05Will this technology help employees work more effectively?
06Is there a simpler, safer, or more efficient way to accomplish the same goal?
These questions guide BizTek’s approach to managed services, cybersecurity, compliance, business continuity, and long-term technology planning.
03 |Systems & leadership
Building Stronger Systems and Reducing Dependence
Roger’s interest in systems grew from lessons learned while building his own companies.
For years, he made a common entrepreneurial mistake. When someone asked how to do something, he often took over because completing the task himself felt faster than teaching someone else.
Over time, he realized that taking over did not solve the underlying problem. It trained the organization to bring that problem back to him.
That realization changed how Roger approached leadership. He became an advocate for documenting repeatable processes, assigning clear responsibilities, using automation intelligently, and building companies that do not depend too heavily on one person.
The same principle applies to technology.
A business should not depend on one employee knowing where everything is stored. Critical information should not exist on one computer. A company should not wait until a cyberattack, outage, or equipment failure to decide who is responsible for what happens next.
Clear systems create consistency. Cybersecurity helps manage risk. Business continuity planning gives the organization a way to respond when something goes wrong.
Technology should make a business more resilient, not more complicated or dependent.
04 |Author & educator
Writing About Business, Technology, and AI
Roger’s experience also informs his work as an author and educator.
He has written about entrepreneurship, leadership, personal growth, burnout, and building businesses that provide greater freedom to their owners. His books include From Hamster Wheel to Hammock: A Guide to Taking Your Day Back, Personal Growth for Entrepreneurs: Your Time, Your Way, and Beyond Entrepreneur Burnout: Reclaim Your Life and Build a Business That No Longer Runs You.
His work increasingly explores artificial intelligence and the changes it is bringing to business, leadership, cybersecurity, marketing, and the workplace.
Roger brings a practical perspective to these subjects. He is less interested in predictions designed to attract attention than in the questions business owners and executives need answered:
- What does this mean for the business?
- What does this mean for the business?
- What does this mean for the business?
- What does this mean for the business?
That same perspective guides the articles Roger writes for BizTek Connection.
05 |A lasting perspective
Experience That Shapes BizTek Connection
Roger’s role at BizTek is not to personally fix every technical problem. Learning not to become the answer to every question was one of the most valuable lessons of his career.
His role is to help establish the direction, standards, systems, and business thinking that allow the BizTek team to serve clients consistently.
Strong organizations cannot rely on one person to rescue every situation. They need capable people, clear responsibilities, sound processes, useful information, appropriate technology, and leadership that prepares the team to act.
After more than four decades in business and technology, Roger has watched tools, threats, and expectations change at an astonishing pace. The reason businesses invest in technology has remained much more consistent.
Technology should help people do better work, protect what the organization depends on, solve real problems, and build a stronger business.
That is the perspective Roger brings to BizTek Connection, his writing, and every conversation about where business technology goes next.
