Did you know that you can hide your icons in Windows Vista and Windows 7? Here’s how:
1. Right-click any empty area of the desktop and mouse over View on the menu that pops up.
2. Click Show Desktop Icons to remove the checkbox.
Just that quickly, No more icons! Now you can enjoy that fancy Windows wallpaper without all the clutter. Don’t worry, the icons aren’t gone for good: To bring them back, just repeat the above steps. I personally subscribe to the idea that you should keep your desktop as clean as possible. It requires a little self-training, but it can be well worth the effort. Just train yourself to run programs from the Start Menu.
But, if you’re one of those folk that like to have all those icons handy and ready to use right from the desktop, this is a quick way to clean that view if you happen to be using your computer for a presentation of have someone looking over your shoulder and want a “cleaner” look for a time.
